Monthly Meeting Summary - September 14th, 2026

Thank you to all who attended our Civic Association meeting this evening. In this session we had 11 attendees. 

The presentation is attached here. In summary:

  • The Participatory Budget program is in the review and proposal development phase. Voting will be open from Nov 2 - Dec 4. 

  • There is a grant available for Lantern Fly removal. If any of you are interested in forming a group with a proposed plan for population control, please let us know and we can help with the grant writing process.

  • Zone In Phase II is open for public comments until Oct 24. Councilmember Tiara Ross is holding a proposal review on Sep 24 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at 141 N. Front St, Columbus OH 43215. Please click the link in the presentation for more details. 

  • Green Columbus is giving away trees. The South Side pick up date is Sep 27. Sign up online using the link in the presentation.

  • As a reminder, the Old Oaks Board positions are up for election this year. Next month's meeting on Oct 12 is the deadline to submit nominations. Voting will take place at the meeting on Nov 9.

During our open floor, we discussed the following:

  • COTA is planning on suspending the 1 line along Livingston Ave while renovations are made. Please take this Facebook survey to let them know your thoughts. 

  • There is a community breakfast and discussion about civic engagement on Oct 3 from 10:00am - 1:00pm at Mt Olivet Baptist Church. 

  • Driving Park is hosting a community resource table giving away meals and hygiene products. The event is on Oct 18 from 2:00pm - 5:00pm at 1500 East Livingston Ave. If you would like to donate a dish or hygiene products, please contact Charles Abernathy at (614) 379-2555
