Monthly Meeting Summary - October 12th, 2026

Thank you to all who attended our Civic Association meeting this evening. In this session we had 17 attendees.

The presentation is attached here. In summary:

  • OOCA Executive Board Nominations close tonight! Please let us know if you or someone you know is interested in running for a seat. You can find a description for each board position here. Elections will be held during the next monthly meeting, November 9th.

  • Of the 13 residents present, all 13 approved Holy Rosary's request to proceed with their demolition project for their non-historic boiler building behind the church.

  • There will be a community meeting on Monday, October 19th, to discuss the substation project on Champion Ave and Livingston Ave (referred to as Champion Station). The meeting will be held at Parsons Library from 6:00pm-7:30pm in meeting rooms 2 & 3. Please come out if you can to learn more and provide input on a proposal put together by representatives from Livingston Park, Southern Orchards, Old Oaks, and Driving Park to ensure this substation fits our needs.

  • Zone In Phase II public comments are open until October 24th. Please take the time to review and add feedback. Your comments will help shape the future development of our neighborhood!

  • LAVA-C elections are on November 5th at Hope Lutheran Church from 5:30pm-7:30pm. There are 4 candidates for 2 seats. LAVA-C advises the City on zoning, parks and rec, and other public services that affect us all. Please stop by and vote!

  • Participatory Budget Proposals will be open for voting from November 2nd to December 4th. Reminder emails will be sent as we get closer to the date.

During our open floor, we discussed the following:

  • Ohio Ave and Champion Ave are temporarily closing parking

  • Please sign up for Progressive Wine Tasting so that we know how much wine to buy! You can sign up here

  • Arts night will be at Meg's house! Let us know if you are interested in joining.

  • There is now a Cat-Dog-Mail-Packages Collective! It is a text group chat to help with grabbing packages off porches, checking on pets, etc. Please contact Matt Murphy for more info.

Thanks again for the great turnout tonight! Please make sure to come to the next monthly meeting on November 9th to vote for new Executive Board members!

Sincerely,

Julian White

President
