Monthly Meeting Summary - July 13th, 2026

Hi Neighbors,

Thank you to all who attended our Civic Association meeting this evening. In this session we had 14 attendees.

The presentation is attached to here. We discussed the new city budget program "Our Voice, Our Choice". This will allow residents to propose ideas on how to spend some of the city's budget for physical infrastructure. Visit this link for more information https://common.oneproject.org/en/columbus. We also reviewed the lead service line replacement program and a couple events happening this month. The civic association is also holding elections in November for all board positions. We will send updates with details on each position and why you should consider running for them.

During our open floor, we talked about National Night Out, a neighborhood community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. This year the event will be on August 4th from 5:30-8:30pm at the Rickenbacker Woods Foundation & Learning Center.

We also had a conversation around considerate use of our shared spaces. Old Oaks has built a tradition of neighbor-lead events that create space for connection and belonging. In order to continue this tradition, we must be respectful. We must be respectful to those who freely give their time and energy to organize and run these events. We must be respectful to those subjected to the inconveniences our events may cause. We must be respectful even though sometimes the flavor of these events is not our favorite. And when disagreements arise, please continue to hold conversations while being understanding, honest, and focused on solutions.

Sincerely,

Julian White

President
