Recycling and Trash Update

As Columbus has grown, the city’s trash collection routes have become increasingly unbalanced among Refuse Collection’s three refuse transfer stations where our trash trucks are based. To address this and ensure optimal efficiencies and customer service, refuse truck routes are being adjusted for a more balanced number of collection routes per station service area. As of Sep 1, 2025, the Old Oaks assigned Zone has changed from Zone 1 to Zone Pink. Please visit our FAQ for more details and a downloadable calendar for refuse schedules.

As a reminder, please place your bins on the west side of your alley (the side closer to downtown), 4 feet away from parked vehicles, other bins, and any other obstructions. Except on scheduled pickup days, please store your bins on your property. Bins must be placed in your alley by 6am the day of collection to be serviced. Bins may be placed in the alley no earlier than 6pm the day before scheduled collection, and may be stored no later than 2pm on the following the day of collection. This allows easier access for neighbors driving through the alleys and into their garages.
